The Chicago Fire’s first goal of the MLSseason was scored by new signing Aleksandar Katai. That great goal has been nominated for Major League Soccer’s Goal Of The Week poll.
Among the nominees are Miguel Almiron’s absolute cracker in Atlanta, which should be seen as the favorite.
Still, it’s good to see the Fire have a positive look after blowing the lead with 10 minutes to go to lose 4-3 to Sporting Kansas City at home.
Here’s Katai’s goal, if you need a late Tuesday pick-me-up:
Katai is now the 12th Fire player ever to score in his MLS regular-season debut with the club. The assist on the goal came from the 11th Fire player to have earned this distinction, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The Men in Red now look to turn the page this weekend when they visit Minnesota United FC at TCF Bank Stadium.
