The United States Men’s National Team U17s are headed to Spain to participate in the 2018 Sportchain Cup in Benicassim. The Baby Nats will play two games against India and two against Norway in what’s seen as a huge opportunity for young players to get some minutes and get noticed.
Among those travelling to Spain— Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper Damien Las.
Las is one of two keepers getting a nod, and with four games this week the chances of him getting some quality minutes are very good.
Of the 24 players called up for the trip to Spain, 22 have spent at least one season in the US Soccer Development Academy. Las is one of a handful of young players to have spent four seasons with the DA, giving him a level of experience that makes him a real asset to the U17s and could pay huge dividends once he’s ready to make the jump to his senior career.
You can follow the U17s’ progress this week at US Soccer’s website.
