Mo Adams’ Red Card Suspension Has Been Lifted

The rookie midfielder will be available for selection against Mo Adams

One of the biggest question marks hanging over the Chicago Fire ahead of tonight’s clash with the Philadelphia Union was Mo Adams.

The rookie defensive midfielder was sent off late in the Fire’s 2-1 win over Orlando on Saturday. The offense that led to the red card didn’t quite seem to warrant the punishment given, and the club decided to appeal the suspension.

Earlier today the club announced that an Independent Panel voted unanimously to overturn Adams’ suspension. The player will be available for selection tonight against the Union.

The Panel consists of one representative from US Soccer, one from the Canadian Soccer Association, and one from the Professional Referee Organization. The accompanying fine levied against Adams has also been waived.

With kickoff just about an hour away, we’ll know for sure whether Adams keeps his starting spot against Philly. Given his recent performances, it’s a safe bet that he will. No doubt everyone at the club, and many fans, are breathing a sigh of relief right now.
