The World Cup is here! Wooo! But if you’re tired of looking at Neymar’s noodle hair and Messi’s penalty misses here are some tidbits from the Men In Red to occupy your time.

Bastian Schweinsteiger reflects on his 2014 World Cup triumph

“When you have the chance to be in the final of the World Cup… you have to take it.”

In an interview with the club’s website, Schweinsteiger reflected on his triumph in Brazil four years ago in commemoration of the 2018 World Cup. Even if you aren’t German or a fan of their national team you can’t help but be emotional and happy when you hear Basti’s humility during his reflection.

... and threw some shade at Italy & the Netherlands

Talking with Canadian sports network TSN, Basti had a little banter to throw at the Italians and the Dutch claiming that those two are his favorites to win the World Cup should Germany not make it to the finals.

Four-time winners Italy and four-time runners-up the Netherlands aren’t featured in this year’s tournament after their shambolic performances during their respective qualifiers.

... then got trolled after Germany’s 0-1 loss to Mexico

Aleksander Katai lands himself in the MLS Team of the Week

During Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against the Colorado Rapids, Katai forced an own goal and shot a wonder goal himself just three minutes later. Maybe the club should exercise the rights to buy him now.

The full squad is on the info-graphic below. Katai joins former Fire midfielder Jeff Larentowicz in the midfield.
