At long last, the NWSL has decided they’ve monitored the situation enough and decided to do something about this weekend’s playoff semifinal tie.
The win-or-go-home clash between the Chicago Red Stars and the North Carolina Courage has now been officially moved to a new day and location.
The game will now be held on Tuesday, September 18th, at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. The home of the Portland Thorns (and Timbers) is also serving as the host venue for the NWSL Championship Final on September 22nd.

The match will kick off at 8pm CT and air on ESPNews. Fans looking to travel to Portland will be able to purchase general admission tickets for $10 through the Thorns’ website.
While far from ideal, this is likely the least bad option for all parties. It’s also a relief to see the league take some real action that prioritizes the safety of players, staff, and fans over those who think home field advantage overrules everything else.
We now resume the Red Stars Hype Train, making all stops to Portland and beyond.
