As the 2018 regular season came to a close tonight, Sam Kerr is alone atop the stats book this year for most goals scored, and she is your 2018 NWSL Golden Boot winner.

An offseason trade between Chicago, Houston, and New Jersey brought Kerr and midfielder Nikki Stanton to the Red Stars.

Kerr was the 2017 Golden Boot winner last season while playing for Sky Blue FC, with 17 goals. Her 16 goals this season are a particularly special feat, as Kerr did not rejoin with the Chicago Red Stars until late April due to the Asian Cup with Australia .

Missing the first four matches with Chicago didn’t slow down the star striker from Australia, the first goal she scored as a Red Star came in May against 2018 Shield winning North Carolina Courage.

During her 2018 campaign, she became the first player in NWSL history to reach 50 goals. She ends this year with 59 total goals.
