Report: Chicago Fire interested in signing Lukas Podolski

Could the German World Champion help fill Soldier Field?

MLS: Vissel Kobe at LAFC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Fire may be looking to replace one German superstar with another, according to a report.

The German outlet Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger reports the Fire are interested in signing former Arsenal and Bayern Munich attacker Lukas Podokski. The 2014 World Champion, who is 34, has played at Vissel Kobe in Japan for the past few years, where he’s teammates with Andres Iniesta and former MLS MVP David Villa.

While he played internationally for Germany (with newly-retired Fire star Bastian Schweinsteiger), Podolski was born in Poland.

So what do you think, Fire fans? Is Podolski a big enough name to help fill Soldier Field? Can he help the team win in 2020? Let us know in the comments.
