Nikki Stanton announced today she won’t be coming back to the Chicago Red Stars for the 2020 season.
Instead, she’s heading to Europe. Stanton announced on her Instagram she’s signing with Klepp in Norway.
She spent two years in Chicago, and left fans this morning with a nice goodbye note on Twitter.
Thank you for the last two years at a club as great as the Red Stars They were a blast. I’ll miss the city, my amazing teammates, & @ChicagoLocal134 . So many unforgettable memories! Excited for this next chapter in my career! Grateful I get to do what I love around the . https://t.co/qLTuDe1FfL

It’s bittersweet for Red Stars supporters, but the move isn’t surprising. Stanton is in a relationship with former Red Stars striker Sam Kerr, who is now playing at Chelsea. So, this makes a ton of sense for Stanton’s personal life.
