Bastian Schweinsteiger is coming to the small screen via a new documentary.
A German company is producing the film, which will span Basti’s club career from Bayern Munich, through Manchester United, and ending with the Chicago Fire, as well as his incredible international career playing for Germany. And, it will feature footage from Der Fußballgott’s life off the field.
The film will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Germany, Austria and Switzerland later in 2020. No word on if or when Basti’s fans in the US can see it.
FIRE PASS ON FINAL PICK
The Fire decided to pass on drafting a player with the final pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. Rounds three and four of the draft took place via conference call today. The Fire had pick number 26 of the fourth round—the final one—and didn’t like anyone they saw.
RED STARS SWAP DRAFT PICKS
The 2020 NWSL College Draft takes place this Thursday, and the Red Stars have already been busy. The club traded away the ninth overall pick in this year’s draft to Reign FC. In exchange, the Red Stars will get the 24th pick this year, and Reign FC’s natural first rounder in the 2021 draft.
REYNOLDS II GETS US CALL UP
Fire defender Andre Reynolds II is in Florida this week with the US U-20 men’s national team, ahead of two matches against Mexico’s U-20s on January 16th and 18th. Reynolds will be working to impress new U-20 coach Anthony Hudson. Reynolds is still only 18, which makes him age-eligible for next year’s U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
