Chicago Fire vs. Sporting Kansas City: Gameday Guide & How to Watch

The nationally-televised match kicks off at 2:30 p.m. CT

The Chicago Fire are back on national television this afternoon, hosting Sporting Kansas City at Soldier Field (2:30 p.m. CT, Univision & TUDN). The Fire go into the match with more rest than they expected, after Wednesday’s away match at Minnesota United was called off at the last minute.

Francisco Calvo is back for the Fire, after missing the D.C. United match due to yellow card accumulation. Djordje Mihailovic is also available, after sitting out of the last match with an injury. Both men will figure to play a big role if the Fire are going to beat Kansas City, who are currently third in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. The Fire are 11th in the East at the moment, but they have a game in hand over most of the other teams after Wednesday’s match wasn’t played.

The Fire still don’t have a win on the road in 2020, but they’ve turned Soldier Field into a fortress, picking up four of their five wins there.

Other notes:

  • Álvaro Medrán is one yellow card away from having to miss his next match, due to yellow card accumulation. If he goes a few more matches without one, he’ll have a yellow wiped away.
  • Gastón Giménez and Miguel Navarro are both back in Chicago after representing their countries in international duty. They’re in quarantine, so they are not eligible to play today.
  • New defender Carlos Terán is in Chicago, and he’s also in quarantine. He should be able to join full team training soon, and will be eligible to play after that.
