Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls: Gameday Guide & How to Watch

The Chicago Fire have five regular season games left to solidify a spot in the playoffs. Tonight’s matchup against the New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field is the next-to-last home game of the year. Following this, there are three straight on the road, all against tough opponents, before the team wraps up the regular season back in Chicago against NYCFC on Nov. 8.

It won’t be easy, and every point matters.

“We’re in the race,” Fire head coach Raphael Wicky told reporters Friday. “It’s a difficult year, but I think next to the progress we have seen from this team, and we have clearly seen (that) progress over the last three months, the playoffs would be the result out of it. That would be great to make that.

“Obviously once you’re in the playoff, we know everything is possible. You can beat any team in this league if it’s only one game. That would always leave our chances open to win something and to be in the race to go all the way.”

Both teams will be without key players. Chicago’s Gastón Giménez and NYRB’s Kaku will have to sit out because a flight delay from their international stint with Paraguay got them back in the U.S. too late to start the quarantine clock.
