It’s looking like a solid crowd for the Chicago Fire’s return to Soldier Field on Saturday, March 21.
The club announced today that its homecoming match against Atlanta United has topped 30,000 tickets sold. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be aired nationally on Univision. Soldier Field’s capacity is 61,500, so the stadium should be at least half full.
“Since announcing our return to Soldier Field, ticket sales have been remarkably steady and momentum is building,” said Fire President Nelson Rodríguez said in a news release. “The reunion of Fire fans with our city promises to make this opening day a special homecoming.”
The club is encouraging fans to arrive early. Parking lots open at 11:30 a.m. and stadium gates open at 1:00 p.m. The first 20,000 fans will receive a captain’s pennant featuring the club’s Homecoming logo.
