The Chicago Fire announced today that New Zealand-born forward Elliot Collier, who led the team with four goals in preseason, has received his U.S. Green Card. This grants him permanent resident status in the United States, and means he’ll no longer occupy an international slot on the Fire’s roster.
The club is now at its maximum of eight international players under contract for the 2020 season: Ignacio Aliseda, Robert Berić, Przemysław Frankowski, Gastón Giménez, Álvaro Medrán, Miguel Navarro, Boris Sekulić and Luka Stojanović.
It was possible Collier would have had to go out on loan while he waited for his Green Card, but that won’t be an issue now.
Hot Time in Old Town profiled the Kiwi forward a few weeks ago. Check it out!
