Chicago Red Stars vs Orlando Pride: Gameday Guide and How to Watch

Just a point would mathematically secure a playoff berth for Chicago.

Heading into the final day of the season, the Red Stars sit quite comfortably in 4th place, 3 points clear of the playoff line. Only a tie is needed to guarantee a top 6 finish, but there is still a lot to play for; a win would ensure a home playoff game, which in the past has been a big boost for the higher-seeded team. A win could also see Chicago go as high as 3rd, awaiting the result between Washington Spirit and Houston Dash. The game will kickoff at 6:00 Central Time, at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, FL.

The Red Stars will be without several key contributors, though. Despite participating in training during USWNT camp this week, Alyssa Naeher and Julie Ertz are both still injured. Head coach Rory Dames stated a few weeks ago that it is unlikely we will see either return during the playoffs. Casey Krueger, also returning from National Team camp, is also out due to illness. Katie Johnson and Sarah Woldmoe will also miss out due to COVID protocols.

Orlando have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but the strength of their roster alone makes it so that you cannot underestimate them. Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux are available, as are Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris. On the international front, Marta, Jodie Taylor, Ali Riley, and Emily van Egmond are in the roster, have represented their countries at the Olympics.

The match will be aired on Paramount+.
