The Chicago Red Stars will play their final game at Bridgeview this season on Sunday in a playoff quarterfinal against Gotham FC. The Red Stars will look to ride their ongoing hot streak, having won four consecutive games at home. The match at SeatGeek Stadium will kickoff early, at 2:00 PM Central Time.

Julie Ertz and Alyssa Naeher remain out for the Red Stars, but Casey Krueger, Sarah Woldmoe, and Katie Johnson all return to the squad after their COVID-related absences. Chicago will have to rely on experience, such as Arin Wright, Sarah Gorden, Morgan Gautrat, and Danielle Colaprico, who have all been a part of playoff runs in the past. The front line, including explosive winger Mal Pugh, will have to take their chances against one of the most defensively sound teams in the league.

Gotham are returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2013; the NWSL’s debut season, when they were known as Sky Blue FC. Along with conceding the second-fewest goals in the league all season, Gotham have actually lost the least games out of any team in the entire NWSL. However, they finished 5th; this is because while they have not lost many games, they haven’t won too many either, and recorded a league-leading 11 draws. With MVP favorite Midge Purce in the front line, though, they are a team that can pose trouble for any opponent. Women’s soccer legend Carli Lloyd is also expected to start for Gotham; since this is her final season, a win for Chicago would signal the end of her storied career.

The match will be aired on CBS Sports Network; tickets are also available for the game at SeatGeek Stadium.
