Chicago Fire players vote to start quarantine today, in order to begin preseason a week early

Post-quarantine, the Fire will train in Bridgeview before heading to Orlando

Chicago Fire FC will begin the 2021 preseason a little sooner than expected.

Hot Time in Old Town is told the majority of the players are now back in Chicago, and they’ve decided to begin their quarantine today in order to officially begin preseason a week from now, on March 1. That puts them a week ahead of the MLS schedule.

MLS had said players needed to be back in their markets by March 1, in order to begin full team training on March 7. But, the league is allowing players to voluntarily begin their quarantine early, which is why the Fire will be able to start ahead of schedule.

The Fire will train at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview from March 1-6, then will head to Orlando, Fla. for the rest of preseason on March 7. The preseason schedule should be out later this week.

A few players have yet to arrive in Chicago due to visa and passport issues, but everyone should be back with the team soon.

Also: Look for two new jerseys—a navy and a white—to be released later this week. Yes, these will still have the “Fire Crown” logo.
