Sure, it’s just preseason. But it’s always good to start a season with a win. The Chicago Fire did just that, defeating NYCFC 2-1 in a tune up match Saturday at the Omni Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla.

After giving up a goal early, the Fire were able to level the match 1-1 in the 14th minute, off a finish from last season’s leading scorer, Robert Beric.

The Fire switched out the entire 11 at the half. In the 54th minute, Fire forward Elliot Collier hit a curling ball into the back of the net, making it 2-1, a lead that held on until the end.

The Fire are back in action next week, with another preseason match Saturday, March 20 against the Philadelphia Union at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex. The match starts at 2 p.m. CT. There are no details on a stream as of yet.
