The Chicago Red Stars are back at home at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview for the first time this season, after pulling out a dull-yet-important 0-0 draw in Houston to open the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup.
The Red Stars outshot the Dash 11-3 in that one. Goalkeeper Cassie Miller got her first NWSL start while Alyssa Naeher was gone on USWNT duty. Miller got the clean sheet, and helped the team pick up an important point away from home.
Tonight, the Portland Thorns are in town. Portland sits on top of the Challenge Cup standings, after securing a 2-1 win over Kansas City.
“We’re excited,” Miller said. “We know they’re gonna come in here and press us, like they always do. We’re getting prepared for that, and we’re excited for it.”
In the U.S., you’ll need a Paramount+ subscription to watch tonight’s match. Paramount+ is the new branding for the old CBS All Access, and will run you $6 a month. Outside the U.S., you can watch the game on the NWSL’s Twitch channel.
Also: A reminder there will be no fans in attendance tonight at SeatGeek Stadium. Some of the other Chicago-area teams have been cleared for fan attendance, but the Red Stars haven’t yet.
