The Chicago Red Stars return to action on Wednesday for their third match of the NWSL Challenge Cup, taking on Kansas City at SeatGeek Stadium.

The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday, however yesterday’s cold and snowy conditions forced the match to be postponed by one day. The time of the game has also been moved forward by two hours. Kickoff tonight will be at 5:30 p.m.

The Red Stars are winless after their first two games, having failed to score in a 0-0 draw in Houston and a 1-0 loss to Portland. Head coach Rory Dames has said Mallory Pugh may be healthy enough to play tonight, which could help the team’s attack. USWNT stars Julie Ertz, Tierna Davidson and Alyssa Naeher are all back and expected to start tonight, as well.

Kansas City fell 2-1 to the Portland Thorns in their only prior Challenge Cup fixture, with former USWNT forward Amy Rodriguez scoring their only goal.

The game will be aired on Paramount+ in the United States ($6 per month). Internationally, it will be available on the NWSL’s official Twitch channel.

There will be no fans in attendance at SeatGeek Stadium for this match.
