The Chicago Red Stars have already been eliminated from the NWSL Challenge Cup, but they will be looking to close out the tournament with their first win of 2021 against OL Reign at Cheney Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Red Stars’ winless start to the season continued with a 1-1 draw with Kansas City last week following a 0-0 draw with Houston and a 1-0 loss to Portland. Katie Johnson’s equalizer last week was the Red Stars’ first goal of the new year.

Though no starters have been ruled out for this game, the fitness of new acquisition Mallory Pugh is still up in the air after she only went 35 minutes in the previous match, against Kansas City. What kind of a role she will fill long-term for the Red Stars also remains to be seen after she played as a second striker in her debut.
The Reign have also been eliminated, failing to score in their two previous Challenge Cup matches; a 0-0 draw with Houston, and a 2-0 loss in Portland.
The game will be aired on Paramount+ in the United States ($6 per month). Internationally, it will be available on the NWSL’s official Twitch channel.
