Chicago Fire 3, Philadelphia Union 3: Man of the Match

MLS: Philadelphia Union at Chicago Fire Jon Durr-USA TODAY Sports

That was about as exciting as it gets for watchers of the 2021 Chicago Fire. A 3-3 draw against one of the league’s top teams on a wet and slippery pitch provided all of the entertainment you could want... except for a full three points. They did, however, manage to come from behind to take the lead on two set-pieces in the second half. Our man of the match will go to the taker of those, Alvaro Medran.

But, he’s not getting it just because of the two assists. Medran was back to being the conductor of the offense and he looked thrilled to be doing it. His pass completion percentage was 87.5, the third-highest of the starting XI behind Ignacio Aliseda and Robert Beric. He was also the guy with the highest XAssists at .53. Medran had a good night worthy of our MotM.

(Now let us know how you saw it. Vote for your choice for MOTM/WOTM in the poll below. The poll will be open for two days, after which we’ll publicize the results.
