The Chicago Red Stars will welcome the eighth-placed Orlando Pride to SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday. The Red Stars have won four of their last five games. Despite sitting down near the bottom of the table, the Pride are only 3 points behind the Red Stars and are still in the hunt in what is a very tight playoff race. Only 4 points separate 2nd place from 8th. The match will kickoff at 5:00 PM CT.
Chicago will still be missing Tierna Davidson, Julie Ertz, Casey Krueger, and Alyssa Naeher; Davidson, Ertz, and Krueger will not play due to rest, and Naeher was unavailable regardless after she picked up an injury in the Olympic semifinal versus Canada on August 2nd. She is expected to be out for a few weeks.
Orlando will be without Alex Morgan (U.S.A.) and Alanna Kennedy (Australia) due to the Olympic break. Ashlyn Harris, Ali Krieger, Marta, and league leading-scorer Sydney Leroux are among those available for selection for Orlando.
This will be the first meeting of 2021 for these two teams. Last time they met was in 2019, when Casey Krueger scored the winning goal late in stoppage time.
The match will be aired on Paramount+.
