The Chicago Red Stars will visit the 8th-placed Houston Dash in a match between two teams who are battling for a playoff spot. The Red Stars, unbeaten in three games, sit just above the line but are in need of three points to widen the gap, which the Dash are just one point out. The match will kickoff at 7:30 PM CT.
Alyssa Naeher and Julie Ertz have both been ruled out for this game due to their respective thigh and knee injuries. Rory Dames will be hoping that both key players will be back in the team soon after long absences. Tierna Davidson, Casey Krueger, and Mallory Pugh were all called up to the US Women’s National Team roster ahead of next week’s friendlies, but they are still available for selection.
Houston have only one win in their last seven following a relatively strong start to the regular season, and are coming off of a 1-1 draw in Orlando last Sunday. Internationals Abby Dahlkemper, Kristie Mewis, Sophie Schmidt, Rachel Daly, and former Red Star Maria Sanchez are some notable options in the Houston team.
The Red Stars and Houston have met twice this season, with each with one time, both by a score of 2-1.
The match will be aired on Paramount+.
